Rodrigo DE PAUL: “Argentina has great courage”
Midfielder of the Argentine national team and Atletico Madrid Rodrigo De Paul Here’s what he said about the win against Brazil (1:0) in the 2026 World Cup qualifying match:
“We are very happy because we made history again. We wanted to be the first team to beat Brazil in the Maracana and considering what happened before the match, we were even more angry. This team showed its big guns again.
I’m sorry for what happened before the match started. Stuff like this doesn’t help South American football at all. I believe that by winning the World Cup we took our football to the highest level. In such incidents, it is not always the players who are to blame. “Today I showed that I will always give everything on the field for the good of this team and this shirt.”
Let us remind you that before the Brazil-Argentina match, the home fans beat the visiting fans with batons. Football players tried to intervene but could not help on a global scale. Due to this incident, the match started with a delay.
