“My family and I felt bad”: Messi reacts to criticism at home ahead of 2022 World Cup
Eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Argentinian Lionel Messi He recalled his victory at the 2022 World Cup and talked about how winning the title of world champion changed the attitude of the fans at home towards him.
“I felt bad, as did my family and the people who love me. Critics in Argentina were extremely unfair to a whole generation of football players, they said a lot of bad things about me. But I’m not vengeful.
I feel like a victory because I managed to turn the tables and conquer all Argentines. Today, 95% or 100% of Argentinians love me and it’s a great feeling.
Winning the World Championship is what everyone wants most. Everyone’s dream is many things, and their biggest dream is to become a world champion with their national team. I was lucky enough to achieve everything with Barcelona at club level and at individual level. And that was the only thing missing. “Not many players can say that they have achieved everything, and thank God I am one of them,” the Argentine captain said in an interview with Disney Star+.
