Viktor KORNIENKO: Calling up to the national team is the best thing for me
Shakhtar defender Viktor Kornienko shared his feelings about being called up to the Ukraine national team:
“I’m Ukrainian. When I’m called up for the national team, that’s the best thing that can happen to me. I have to defend the honor of my country. It’s very important to me.
During the war, we spoke with Alexander Petrakov on the phone several times. Not much has been said about football. Before they take care of each other’s safety. The first conversations were about this. Then we talked more directly about the game. The coach asked if I was in shape, how I was feeling. We always kept in touch.
I know Petrakov very well. This is a man who does not stray from his own way. Puts results first. “Despite what has happened now, he will continue to demand from us,” he said.
