Ecuador denies accusing Chile of fielding a player with fake IDs
The Ecuadorian Football Federation has officially dismissed the allegations of using Byron Castillo with false information and of course has the evidence to drop the specific allegations in the FIFA Disciplinary Chamber.
The Ecuadorian Football Federation denies Chile’s claim that its footballer Byron Castillo is not a citizen of the country, prompting him to request his ban from the 2022 World Cup.
Among other things, the announcement indicates that the footballer is a citizen of Ecuador, both in terms of his ‘municipal’ duties and in terms of his sport, based on the country’s current legislation. In fact, every time Byron Castillo wore the colors of the national team, he was a citizen of Ecuador.
At the same time, he stressed that he was ready to prove this both to the FIFA disciplinary body and before that to categorically reject any attempt by a country (in this case Chile) to deny the Ecuadorian team participation in the World Cup.
