Serhiy SIDORCHUK: “The whole Ukrainian team lives for the match against Scotland”
Midfielder Serhiy Sidorchuk commented before the Ukraine national team’s test match against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
“We started preparations for the match against Scotland. And this is more of a friendly match, not an exhibition match. But we must not forget what happened in Ukraine. Today I saw a photo from Azovstal, where we have our guys. You can’t say it’s just a match.”
“This is another attempt to draw attention to what is happening in Ukraine.”
“To be honest, we (football players) are not in the worst situation. We know what is happening in Mariupol, in the east of the country in Ukraine, in the same Odessa, in Mariupol. We are good compared to them. Everyone in the team has the same heart and soul. We live in this land, we see it here. There can be no discussion, we have a common opinion about war.
“If we talk about the match against Scotland, we understand the burden that lies on us. For all residents of Ukraine, this may be the second good news after Lend-Lease signed in the United States. “We are all living this match and hope to be successful,” said Sidorchuk.
The match will start on May 11 at 21:45.
