Andrey VOROOBEY: “Every actor should play, I can’t”
Former Ukraine national team player Andriy Vorobey shared his expectations from our main team’s upcoming match against Scotland on June 1, as part of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
“The team is still pretty heavy, not in the best shape. We understand that the six months without football make them feel. Even with these mediocre teams where we play control games, they look fresher. They seem to be in the middle of the championship now.
I hope we will be well in half a month but it will be very difficult. But even if we don’t reach the peak of our abilities, I think every player should come out of himself and I can’t play. And now I hope for our legionnaires who are doing well. These are Yarmolenko, Mikolenko, Zinchenko, Malinovsky, Yaremchuk. I hope they pull the whole team with them.
Before the war I used to say we had an advantage in skill and in everything in general, but now we are unlikely to have that. Still, Scotland is an ambitious, characteristic team that plays. But I understand that it is necessary to play at the expense of skill, but if there is no character and people cannot take all their feelings and desires from themselves, then nothing will work. “Everyone should play 200 percent, not even 100 percent,” Vorobey said.
The World Cup playoff match between Scotland and Ukraine will be played on 1 June in Glasgow.
