Andriy SHEVCHENKO: “The match against Scotland? I believe in miracles”
Andriy Shevchenko, the former coach of the Ukrainian national team, said the following about the war with Russia in an interview with the British media:
“This war is brutal. This is terrible. This is genocide. It was important to me to find a way to help my country. Ukraine is paralyzed, it is impossible to manage the economy, we are bombed every day, people die.
Many players of the Ukrainian national team did not have the opportunity to train at all before the match with Scotland. But I believe a miracle is possible because I know what their motivations are.
Not a single Russian athlete can be admitted to any competition while the war continues in Ukraine. Because of Russia, our athletes are deprived of all kinds of sports. And they can be killed at any time.”
Yesterday Shevchenko attended a charity match in Milan.
