VIDEO. Yellow against blue. Ukraine national team played a two-way game
Thursday, May 26 at the camp Ukraine national team different from other days. After an intense double workout on Wednesday, the first half of Thursday was free of any exercise or activity.
However, pre-dinner theory has already set the guys up for an important evening event – a 90-minute two-sided game. The seriousness of the approach was evidenced by the fact that the theoretical classes were held separately for each team – yellow and blue, one of which was supposed to follow the style of the Scottish team.
The actions of one team were led by two Alexanders – head coach Petrakov and his assistant Shovkovsky, and the first assistant Andrey Annenkov, and coach-analyst Abraham Campomar was responsible for the other. Although the competition was internal, it contained all the essentials for a full-fledged duel – setup, separate locker rooms, game kits, and the playing of the national anthem before the starting whistle.
The men transferred seriousness and responsibility to the football field: The match turned out to be intense and full of game moments. However, it was of a closed nature, so coaching staff choose not to reveal rosters, as work is ongoing to determine the level of players’ readiness for the match against Scotland.
22 players took part in the double match, including three of the goalkeeper team currently in the camp. All fielders spent 90 minutes on the field. The fight ended in a draw – 1: 1. Goal scorers Roman Yaremchuk (from the pitch) and Artem Dovbik (from the penalty spot) threw the ball at their own expense
At the same time, the word “fight” is by no means a journalistic cliché: the guys created chances to score and tried to win until the final whistle of the Slovenian referee, who stopped one of the attacking teams.
The last day of the rehabilitation program was with Nikolai Shaparenko, who will be ready to return to the general group on May 27. Denis Popov, who can also work in a team on the road and in two or three days.
