Oleksandr ZINCHENKO: “The match against Scotland is one of the most important matches in my life”
Ukraine national team midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko emphasized the importance of the play-off match against Scotland (June 1) in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers:
“Ukraine is still alive. Ukraine will fight to the end. This is our mentality. We never give up. I am very grateful for the support of the whole world. Scotland is a very good team. They have incredible fans.
I can promise all Ukrainians that we will give our all to win the game and make everyone proud of us and maybe make the fans smile for a few seconds.
In the early days of the war, when everything was just beginning, it was very difficult to focus on football. All my thoughts were with Ukraine, with the Ukrainian people. For everyone, I can say that it is exactly the same for every Ukrainian football player.
The match against Scotland is one of the most important matches of my life. The guys look ready, no need to talk about motivation. We have no excuses and we have to do our job to the best of our ability.”
