German fan banner calls for a boycott because of dead workers
During the game against Italy, German fans hoisted banners calling for a boycott of the World Cup in Qatar because of the dead workers.
The countdown to the World Cup in Qatar, which starts in November, has started. Reports of human and labor rights violations in projects in Middle Eastern countries are increasing.
A year ago, the Guardian reported more than 6,500 worker deaths, while a study by the Business & Human Rights Resource Center found human rights abuses at more than 24,000 workers.
A group of German fans at their country’s match against Italy in the Nations League called for a boycott of the World Cup by hoisting a banner that read: “15,000 dead on the big stage – Fifa and their partners have no idea. Boycott in Qatar”.
The individual fans, after raising the banner, ran to get lost in the crowd, but the German police caught them and dealt with them.
