Scottish barrier. The Ukraine women’s national team lost heavily in the World Cup selection.

The Ukrainian women’s team played a match against Scotland as part of the 2023 World Cup qualifying tournament.

At the beginning of the match, the “blue-yellows” could have taken the lead, but after making a cross from the right, Kozlova shot into the goal from an advantageous position. And before long the meeting’s referee, as Weir noticed, gave our gates a rather controversial (to put it mildly) penalty kick.

After conceding an early goal, our players got nervous and this primarily affected their defensive actions. Cuthbert doubled the advantage of the “Tartan Army” and sent the ball into the goal without any resistance from outside the penalty area. A few minutes later, Thomas closed the canopy around the corner. Thomas completed our team’s defeat in the first half: again after Cuthbert’s corner kick, he sent the ball into the net.

In the second half, the Blue-Yellows made attempts to change the situation, but the Scots acted competently according to the result. Our gates were not particularly threatened and they were not allowed to worsen the situation near their property. The match ended with the score in the first half.

On June 28, the Ukrainian women’s team will face Hungary, but this fight will no longer have a tournament value. Like the matches our team played against the Faroe Islands and Spain. The Blue-Yellows have lost their chance to compete for the World Cup ticket and Scotland has guaranteed them access to the next qualifying stage for the World Cup.
