Olga OVDIYCHUK: “Every football player wants to go to the World Cup”
On the eve of two important qualifying matches for the World Cup, the Ukrainian women’s team reunited with families who had to leave the country. Our team’s player, Olga Ovdiychuk, commented on the emotional meeting with refugees.
“We really came and the children were very happy. They cheered us up, and I hope we cheered them up too. But it was also very painful because our children are forced to flee the war and live in other countries. I wanted them to spend their childhood in kindergartens, schools, playgrounds in Ukraine, but not in Ukraine, in any other country.
Every player knows the price of such matches, he knows what he is fighting for. First of all, these matches will be for the whole of Ukraine, for our fans, for our people, for our defenders and defenders. Second, every player wants to go to the World Cup, and I think that’s the biggest motivation you can think of. “In the first place we will follow the instructions of the coach and try to use his weak points during the game and achieve a positive result,” said Ovdiychuk.
The Ukraine-Scotland match will be played today, 24 June. The starting whistle will sound at 21:15 Kyiv time.
