World Cup
Victory without tournament value. Ukraine women’s national team beat Hungary
To qualify for the playoffs, at least to enter the World Cup, the Ukrainians had to win in the tartans before, score in the same Hungary, not surrender to the Spaniards … We have what we have, so today’s game , any result, our team claimed the second place won’t let him.
At the discretion of our girls, they did not enter the field in a bad mood, they fought all over the field with all their strength and skill. The Hungarian advantage was noticed only in a small part of the first half. Had we been able to better develop the potential scoring chances, the game would have been over immediately. And so they managed to score only once – Daria Kravets successfully came into the corner.
Despite Samson’s not-so-confident play with his feet (his opponent committed the same sin), he worked pretty well with his hands – not everyone can deliver a blow to force from the keeper’s line.
In the second half the situation did not change – we looked better, but the same technical flaw did not allow us to score the second goal. Only Ovdiychuk managed to do this in the 90th minute – after entering the game as a substitute, Olga made a one-on-one return with Biro.
Of course we won’t be going to the World Cup, but it looks like the Spanish Cortes’ work is paying off – he had some pretty good ball-control moments. And a victory over a not very friendly country with us will certainly not be superfluous.
Then on 1 July we will play against Spain.
