Iran fired their coach four months before the start of the World Cup

Dragan Skocic led the Iran national team to the World Cup finals but will not be on the bench in Qatar as the country’s football association announced his dismissal on Monday (7/11).

Iran put on an impressive run in World Cup qualifiers and a record 8 wins 1 d 1 loss (against South Korea) secured them a ticket to the finals, to be played in Qatar, and spread excitement among their friends .

However, in the finals of the competition (USA, England and Wales are the opponents in the groups) there will be one important difference and that has to do with its leader, Dragan Scotch to be off the bench from Monday (7/11) following a decision by the country’s football association.

The Iranian FA’s selection comes four months ahead of the World Cup, with the Croatian having succeeded Mark Wilmots as the country’s coach in February 2020, leaving the country with 15 wins in 18 games and two losses in the last three games.

It is recalled that Iran will take part in the final stages of the World Cup for the third consecutive year, while in its previous appearance at the World Cup in Russia it finished third in the group stage with 4 points.
