Argentina and Uruguay continue with victories for World Cup qualifiers
Argentina added further obstacles to Chile’s bid to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar, while Uruguay took a small step towards qualifying after beating Paraguay.
Argentina’s game at Chilean headquarters was standard procedure as Albiseleste has already checked his ticket to the World Cup in Qatar.
Still, Lionel Scaloni’s players, who was not on the bench due to coronavirus, managed to win without Lionel Messi in their line-up. The team’s captain was Angel Di Maria and he was the one who opened the game with an amazing goal in the 10th minute.
Chile temporarily reduced the lead to level with Bretton in the 21st minute, with Lautaro Martines leveling the score in the 34th minute, although Chile struggled to get something out of the game.
Earlier, Uruguay went 1-0 home from Chile thanks to a goal from Luis Suarez after a 50th-minute assist from Godin. That goal secured Diego Alonso’s team qualification for the final of the tournament.
