World Cup 2022: Reflections on postponing kick-off to allow Qatar to play first
FIFA is considering delaying the start of the World Cup by a day to allow Qatar to start first in the competition, according to The Athletic.
As was known, the 2022 World Cup draw would take place on November 21st. According to “Athletic”, however, there is a possibility that this will happen a day earlier.
The original schedule called for the opening game to be Senegal versus the Netherlands. However, FIFA is considering allowing Qatar to play in the first game of the tournament.
In particular, they are considering moving the Qatar-Ecuador game to Sunday, November 20th. All of this is of course a scenario.
In order to decide such a thing, he must obtain the approval of both the relevant committee of the world association and all other confederations (UEFA, CONMEBOL, CONCACAF, CAF, AFC and OFC).
