Daria Virolainen took second place in the 15 km individual race at the Finnish Summer Biathlon Championships.
Heidi Kuuttinen took the win with one penalty on four shooting ranges in a time of 46 minutes 23.9 seconds. Virolainen (4 misses) lost more than three minutes to her, the third was Venla Lehtonen (5 misses, +4.01.6).
Virolainen finished fourth in the 7.5K sprint race on Saturday, 2 minutes 5.3 seconds behind the victorious Anastasia Kinnunen. Both athletes made three misses. Kuuttinen (2 misses, +1.06.4) finished second, Lehtonen (3, +1.57.7) was third.
Virolainen, 33, is the daughter of three-time Olympic champion Anfisa Reztsova and the sister of two-time Olympic medalist Kristina Reztsova. Virolainen missed last season due to pregnancy, previously she twice climbed the podium at the World Cup.

The men’s individual race at the second stage of the Alfa-Bank Russian Biathlon Cup in Tyumen has been postponed from Thursday to Friday. reports press service of the Russian Biathlon Union (RUB).
The race will take place on December 12, starting at 12:00 Moscow time. The competition was originally scheduled for Thursday. As noted, the decision to postpone was made due to an accident in the electrical network supplying lighting to the Pearl of Siberia complex.
The women’s individual race will take place as planned on December 11th.

“We are ready to consider any options, but definitely no more than 2+2” – RBU President Maigurov on the admission of Russian biathletes to the Olympic Games
President of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Viktor Maigurov said that the maximum quota for Russian athletes if admitted to the Olympics will be the participation of two men and two women.
The Olympic meeting was held in Moscow on Wednesday. The Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee Mikhail Degtyarev said that the Russian side will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on December 10 due to the removal of biathletes from international competitions. Maigurov later said that the Russians have a chance to qualify for the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy.
— Do you assume that if admitted, no more than one woman and one man will be admitted?
— We are ready to consider any options. We don’t count the quantity in any case. No more than 2+2 for sure,” Maigurov told a Match TV correspondent.
Russian biathletes were suspended from international competitions in 2022.
The 2026 Winter Olympic Games will be held from February 6 to 22 in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
