Senators prospect Jake Sanderson will have to wait before he can join Team USA for the men’s hockey tournament at the Beijing Olympics.

Sanderson is indeed in isolation in Los Angeles due to COVID-19, reports the columnist of Postemedia Bruce Garrioch on Friday. The defender will have to present four negative tests from today before he can fly to the Chinese capital.

He would then take a charter flight with other athletes who will represent the United States.

Sanderson was drafted 5th overall by the Senators in 2020. The 19-year-old is currently playing his second season with the University of North Dakota.

The United States, which is in Group A with Canada, will play its first match on February 10 against China. They will then face Canada on February 12 and Germany the following day.
