The 49ers second baseman, Trey Lanceleft the party San Francisco against Seahawks with what appeared to be a fractured right ankle. The injury occurred late in the first quarter with the 49ers driving inside the Seattle red zone. Lance caught the ball and appeared to break his ankle at tackle Bryan Mone and Cody Barton.
Lance stood up briefly before limping back to the Levi’s Stadium floor immediately. He was carried off the field shortly after the game. After the game, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Lance will likely need surgery, ending the 2022 season.

When can Trey Lance return?
The fractured right ankle, with surgery included, will cause him to miss the entire season. Lance should be fit to start next season.

Lance finished the game completing 2 of 3 passes for 30 yards, adding 13 yards on three carries. your deputy, Jimmy Garoppolo, will take over the 49ers for the foreseeable future. San Francisco flirted with the possibility of trading/cutting Garoppolo this offseason, but chose to make him the highest-paid signing in the league.

Last year, Garoppolo played 15 games and the Niners’ record was 9-6. In the playoffs, they lost in the Conference Game to the Los Angeles Rams 20-17. its winner would become champion at SoFi Stadium.
