“I’ll see how they will talk among themselves” – skier Sorina about the upcoming World Cup without Russians

Olympic champion skier Tatyana Sorina has revealed that she will selectively follow the World Cup races in the coming season.

– Will I watch the World Cup without Russia? Yes, but selective races. I’ll see how they squabble with each other.

After the end of Teresa Johaug’s career, which everyone was guided by, who should they now approach? The season would start – maybe you don’t have to get close to anyone. Let them try to keep up with us (laughs), – quotes the words of Sorina “Championship”.

In March, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that international federations remove Russian athletes from international competitions due to the situation in Ukraine.

The IBU reported that the claim was filed with CAS by the SBR, RKR and eight Russian biathletes and parabiathletes

The International Biathlon Union (IBU) reported on its website that it has received information from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) about a claim from the Russian Biathlon Union (RUB), the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC), Russian biathletes and parabiathletes against the decision to exclude athletes from international competitions.

On Wednesday, the head of the RBU press service, Sergei Averyanov, told Match TV that the organization filed a lawsuit with CAS to challenge the exclusion of Russian athletes from competitions under the auspices of the IBU. Previously, the Russian side, in a similar lawsuit against the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), achieved the participation of Russian athletes in the Olympic selection.

    — The IBU received notification today from CAS that the RBU, RKR and eight Russian biathletes and parabiathletes have submitted a request for arbitration.

The IBU supports the democratic decision of the IBU Congress to suspend the membership of the RBU and the admission of its athletes, which was taken on a sound legal basis. The IBU also reiterates that the competition rules and IBU statutes do not allow athletes to participate in neutral status. The IBU is confident in its position and will cooperate fully with CAS.

The IBU legal team is currently reviewing the documents received. Further announcements will be made in due course, it said.

Russian biathletes have been suspended from international competitions since 2022.

Biathlete Metelya thanked her psychologist after winning the individual race at the Russian Cup stage

Russian biathlete Victoria Metelya thanked her psychologist on Match TV after winning the individual race at the second stage of the Alfa-Bank Russian Biathlon Cup in Tyumen.

On Thursday, the athlete covered the 12.5 km distance in 35 minutes 11 seconds, without making a single mistake at four shooting ranges.

“I’m incredibly pleased, I didn’t expect such a result.” I want to say a big thank you to my coaches and my psychologist. I came out in the best possible mood. Therefore this is the result.

    — What is the secret of working with a psychologist?

    – Secret (laughs). Everyone needs an individual approach. This gave a huge plus, an impetus,” Metelya said on Match TV.

The men’s individual race had previously been moved from Thursday to Friday, December 12.

Watch live broadcasts of biathlon competitions on TV channels of the Match family, as well as on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
