“The feeling of hunger is only now beginning to increase.” Reztsova – about the beginning of the Chechen Republic in summer biathlon
Russian biathlete Kristina Reztsova was pleased with the start of the Russian Summer Biathlon Championship in Chaikovsky (Perm Territory).
On Saturday, Reztsova took 20th place in the sprint with three misses on two shooting ranges and lost 2 minutes 27.8 seconds to the winner Tamara Derbusheva (0 misses).
– I missed biathlon very much. I’m glad I came and I can feel this atmosphere. In general, today I woke up with a smile, this feeling of competition and happiness that I will experience! Not to say that my result gave me a lot of happiness, but the very feeling of the race! This feeling of hunger is only now beginning to grow. Four races ahead, I think that I will reassure a little people who are watching and do not understand why everything is so bad. From start to start I will try to score.
What was bad? I was ill for a whole month and, it turns out, I trained only in September. I was in Sochi and practically did not do high-speed work. The power also drops a little. I don’t have enough competitive practice right now. Of course, I won’t get the power here, but in general, I will be able to get the pace and competitive excitement in a couple of races.
Since I was in Istomin’s group, I started the preparation according to the general plan. The first three months I trained, and then, when I got sick, everything was discussed with Vitaly Viktorovich, changed, corrected. Now I am in touch with him all the time. He writes all plans to me.
How will I train now? I think we will discuss this further. I definitely won’t go to the mountains with a group, because I just went down from there. As for Khanty-Mansiysk, I think it’s better to train with the team, ”Championship” quotes Reztsova.

Metelya – about the possible admission of Russian biathletes to the Olympic Games: “We will be ready”
Victoria Metelya, live on Match TV, assessed the performance of Russian skiers at the World Cup in Davos (Switzerland) and spoke about the possible admission of Russian biathletes to the 2026 Olympic Games.
On Saturday, Saveliy Korostelev and Daria Nepryaeva failed to qualify for the freestyle sprint at the World Cup in Davos, but these results were enough to meet the qualification standard for the 2026 Olympics.
On Wednesday, the Russian Biathlon Union (RUB) filed a lawsuit with the Court of Arbitration for Sport to challenge the exclusion of athletes from Russia from competing under the auspices of the International Biathlon Union (IBU). RBU President Viktor Maigurov reported that the organization will ask CAS to consider the issue under an accelerated procedure.
— How would you evaluate the performance of the Russians at the World Cup in Davos?
– Everything is fine, this is the first start. I wish the guys good luck: follow the intended path. I’m incredibly happy for them. We wrote off after admission, wished all the best, I’m rooting for the guys.
— How much do you believe that Russian biathletes will be allowed to participate in the Olympic Games in January?
“We hope for the best, but things are much more difficult here in this regard, so I don’t really expect miracles; what will happen will happen.” In any case, we will be ready. Even if they don’t take me, I will be happy for our other athletes.
— If you have a chance to go to the Olympics, will you go?
“Of course, it’s not even discussed,” Metelya said on Match TV.

Metelya – about the mass start: “How can you be upset with third place if so many people came to support us”
Biathlete Victoria Metelya, on Match TV, noted the phenomenal support from fans during the 12 km mass start at the second stage of the Alfa-Bank Russian Cup in Tyumen.
The mass start took place on Sunday. Metelya took third place, 21.7 seconds behind the winner Kristina Reztsova and making one penalty. Second was Anastasia Grishina (+13 seconds, 0 misses).
— You threw a bouquet of flowers to the audience, isn’t it a pity?
– Of course not. I would give everything to the audience, look how many people there are. How can you be upset with third place if so many people came to support us? I didn’t hear the clatter of poles or the sound of skis, because there was such a shout here, such support. “It’s just phenomenal,” said the biathlete.
Later on Sunday, the men’s mass start will take place in Tyumen. Watch the live broadcast of the race from 11:50 on the Match TV channel, and the broadcast will also be available on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
