BEIJING, China — Vanessa James and Eric Radford finished fourth in the pairs event on Monday at the Beijing Olympics.
James suffered a nasty crash in training earlier today.
Canada shares the fourth echelon with China with only two scares to play: the dance free program and the women’s free program.
The Ontario pair collected 130.07 on the song ‘Falling’ by Harry Styles and finished fourth among the five pairs of finalist nations.
Russians Anastasia Mishina and Aleksandr Galliamov scored 145.20 points to propel them into first place. Russia leads the standings with 55 points. The United States and Japan are tied for second with 48 points.
Canada and China cannot hope to get their hands on a medal given their 37 points.
Madeline Schizas was impressive in her Olympic debut to earn Canada a spot in the final round the day before.
Schizas, as well as the duo of Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier will set off later for the maple leaf.
Canada won silver in Sochi 2014 in the first edition of the event at the Games. The Canadian team then won gold in Pyeongchang four years ago.
