Medals will be handed out on Monday in short track speed skating at the Beijing Olympics with the conclusion of the women’s 500m and men’s 1000m events.
It will not be difficult to follow the Canadians during the quarter-final phase. The three representatives of the maple leaf out of the 20 skaters still in contention find themselves in the same wave.
At 6:30 a.m., Kim Boutin, Alyson Charles and Florence Brunelle will compete for tickets to the semi-finals. Boutin had won the bronze medal in this distance at the PyeongChang Olympics.
The skaters finishing in the first two places in each of the four heats as well as the two fastest among those who finish in third position will advance to the next round.
The men will then present themselves on the ice under the same formula, but for their part, it is for the 1000m event. Two Canadians will be in action with Pascal Dion and Jordan Pierre-Gilles.
