Canadians Megan Oldham and Olivia Asselin finished 4th and 8th in the long jump event for their Olympic debut on Tuesday at the Beijing Games.
Oldham and Asselin, aged 20 and 17 respectively, are rising stars in their discipline in freestyle skiing.
It was another young star in the discipline, the Chinese Eileen Gu, 18, who won gold after three runs of the final (188.25), less than a point ahead of the French Tess Ledeux ( 187.50).
Gu is also the favorite to win the halfpipe event later in these Games.
