Place for a first confrontation between the two powers of world women’s hockey, Tuesday, at the Beijing Olympics.

Both undefeated after three round robin encounters, Canada and the United States will meet in what will in all likelihood give us a taste of the grand final.

In their first three games of the preliminary round, the Canadians have scored 29 goals and allowed only three.

Meanwhile, the Americans scored 18 goals and allowed only two.

Sarah Fillier has led the charge so far, with five goals. Sarah Nurse is close behind with four goals, including a hat trick against Finland.

For her part, captain Marie-Philip Poulin blackened the scoresheet for the first time in the tournament on Monday, in a 6-1 victory over the athletes of the Russian Olympic Committee (COR).

Ann-Renée Desbiens is back in front of the Canadian net against the Americans, after giving up the net to Emerance Maschmeyer for the duel the day before.

After consecutive gold medals in 2002, 2006 and 2010 in Salt Lake City, Sochi and Vancouver, Canada ceded the top step of the podium to its great rivals in 2018, in Pyeongchang.
