Canadian James Crawford once again distinguished himself at the Beijing Olympics on Tuesday.
The skier finished the men’s Super-G race in sixth position. The competition was won by Austrian Matthias Mayer who flew over the track with a time of 1:19.94. After securing bronze in the downhill earlier this week, Mayer repeats her 2018 result in the Super-G. The podium was completed by American Ryan Cochran-Siegle and Norwegian Adiran Smiseth.
Having won gold in the downhill at those Games, Beat Feuz missed a super-G gate immediately before the Crawford downhill.
Thanks to a time of 1 min 20 seconds and 79 hundredths, Crawford only missed the podium by 43 hundredths of a second. The day before, during the downhill event, the Canadian had finished at the foot of the podium just seven hundredths from an Olympic medal.
Another Canadian in the running for this competition, Trevor Philp was able to finish in 10and rung 1.4 seconds from the leader.
The descent went less well for the other two representatives of the Maple Leaf in this competition. Broderick Thompson and Brodie Seger were unable to complete their rounds after missing a pass.
Farrell sole representative in round of 16
In the snowboard parallel giant slalom competition, Canadian Megan Farrell was the only Canadian representative to advance to the round of 16. She will be opposed in her next race to the Austrian Daniela Ulbing.
Kaylie Buck failed to get her ticket to the next round with a 21and position. Among the men, Jules Lefebvre (20and), Arnaud Gaudet (26and) and Sebastien Beaulieu(27and) failed to finish among the top 16 snowboarders to find themselves in the round of 16.
