The American Nina O’Brien, victim of a heavy fall during the giant slalom of the Olympic Games-2022 on Monday, suffers from a double open fracture of the tibia-fibula of the left leg, announced Tuesday the American Ski Federation.
“She was transported (after her fall) to a hospital in Yanqing where a stabilization procedure was carried out,” said the American federation.
“She will return to the United States for further examinations and procedures,” she added, without giving further details or the duration of her unavailability.
The American federation assured in its press release that O’Brien had “received excellent care from doctors in Yanqing”.
O’Brien, 24, crashed in the latter part of the giant’s second run won by Sweden’s Sara Hector on Monday.
She had finished 10th in the giant of the Worlds-2021.
