The incredible case of Brian Robinson in the NFL: he was shot in an attempted robbery and started for the Washington Commanders six weeks later

When the Washington commanders they used one 3rd round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft in Brian Robinsonthey did so by imagining him as part of a backbend alongside Antonio Gibson and JD McKissic.

At the time, it was expected that Robinson would have to fight removed Gibson from his role as a starter in Washington’s offense and that was supposed to be the biggest challenge of his rookie season. Instead, the former Alabama native found himself he is fighting for his life as the preseason drew to a close.

And it is that Robinson was victim of a violent robbery in Washington during which he was shot twice. As a result, he had to be hospitalized and operated on.

But when it looked like this episode would keep him out of the 2022 season, RoBinson was able to make his Washington debut much earlier than expected.: played for the Commanders in week 5just over a month after getting the two shots.

The timeline of the Brian Robinson case

August 28: Robinson was shot twice in the right leg during an attempted robbery in Washington, D.C. The runner was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Coach Ron Rivera visited him and said he was in “good mood“.

August 29: Robinson underwent minor surgery to treat the injuries he sustained in the shooting and gave an update via Instagram saying the procedure “it went rightHowever, Rivera stated thatthere is no timetable“for his return.

August 30: Robinson is released from the hospital. It was revealed that there was no structural damage as a result of the shooting.

September 7: Just a week after the shooting, Rivera revealed that Robinson was no longer using crutches and claimed the swelling in the 23-year-old’s lower body had noticeably subsided.

September 28: A month after the shooting, Robinson stretches with teammates during practice in Washington.

October 5: Robinson is officially back at Washington practice.

October 9: Robinson was activated for Washington’s game against the Titans. Upon entering the field, he received the applause of the fans.

Robinson served as one of the team’s primary backs. He generated 22 yards on nine carries, splitting time in the back field with JD McKissic and Antonio Gibson.

October 13: Robinson tops Gibson in Rivera’s estimation and will start Thursday Night Football between Washington and Chicago. Just four days after the rookie made his season debut and six weeks after he was shot twice.
