For the second time in as many games, the Russian Olympic Committee men’s hockey team had little offensive success, but it was once again enough to win.

COR secured a 2-0 victory over Denmark on Friday in the second meeting between the two nations.

Pavel Karnaukhov was the first goalscorer in the clash, midway through the middle period.

Kirill Semyonov then sealed the outcome of the duel by scoring in an empty net.

Goaltender Ivan Fedotov posted a second shutout in as many outings for the defending champions of the men’s competition.

Opposite him was Montreal Canadiens prospect Frederik Dichow, who stood out by stopping 32 of the Russian team’s 33 shots.

Dichow, 20, was the 138th overall pick in the 2019 draft.

The Danes therefore suffer a first setback in Group B after defeating the Czech Republic on Wednesday, as a curtain raiser.

Three other duels are scheduled for Friday: the Czech Republic will face Switzerland, Slovakia will face Sweden, and Finland will cross swords with Latvia.
