The 2014 Olympic champion in the ski marathon Alexander Legkov commented on the words of the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach.
On Wednesday, Bach, speaking at the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) in Seoul, said that the IOC continues to recommend that international federations not allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in their competitions. According to him, this wish allows him to defend the Olympic mission, although it was given to him with great difficulty.
– For me, the extension of the suspension of our athletes is expected. I have said before that hope dies last, and everyone somehow thought that it could be different.
I am not surprised by such a statement by Bach, everything went towards this. He starts talking butter. First, he says that sport is out of politics, that athletes can train regardless of the political situation. But, on the other hand, Bach says that he recommends everyone to remove our athletes. This is not clear to me. There are Olympic charters, and he talks about them, but at the same time he says that we should not be allowed. This is some nonsense. Such a world we have now, unfortunately, – quotes the words of Legkov “Championship”.
