Ski World Cup moved from Milan to Livigno due to rising electricity prices

The Italian stage of the World Cup in cross-country skiing has been moved from Milan to Livigno due to rising electricity prices, according to the official website of the International Ski Federation (FIS).

– Of course, the FIS strives to allow as few changes as possible to the original calendar program. However, we know the challenges organizers are currently facing when global issues affect their events. That is why we constantly exchange views and must be able to respond in time. The Italian Ski Federation has presented a great alternative for the sprint weekend in January, the statement said.

The stage in Livigno, which will be held on January 21 and 22, includes individual and team sprint races.

In October, the FIS extended the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions under the auspices of the organization for an indefinite period.

Metelya – about the possible admission of Russian biathletes to the Olympic Games: “We will be ready”

Victoria Metelya, live on Match TV, assessed the performance of Russian skiers at the World Cup in Davos (Switzerland) and spoke about the possible admission of Russian biathletes to the 2026 Olympic Games.

On Saturday, Saveliy Korostelev and Daria Nepryaeva failed to qualify for the freestyle sprint at the World Cup in Davos, but these results were enough to meet the qualification standard for the 2026 Olympics.

On Wednesday, the Russian Biathlon Union (RUB) filed a lawsuit with the Court of Arbitration for Sport to challenge the exclusion of athletes from Russia from competing under the auspices of the International Biathlon Union (IBU). RBU President Viktor Maigurov reported that the organization will ask CAS to consider the issue under an accelerated procedure.

    — How would you evaluate the performance of the Russians at the World Cup in Davos?

    – Everything is fine, this is the first start. I wish the guys good luck: follow the intended path. I’m incredibly happy for them. We wrote off after admission, wished all the best, I’m rooting for the guys.

    — How much do you believe that Russian biathletes will be allowed to participate in the Olympic Games in January?

“We hope for the best, but things are much more difficult here in this regard, so I don’t really expect miracles; what will happen will happen.” In any case, we will be ready. Even if they don’t take me, I will be happy for our other athletes.

    — If you have a chance to go to the Olympics, will you go?

“Of course, it’s not even discussed,” Metelya said on Match TV.
