The words of the head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach about the participation of athletes from around the world in the Olympics should not be taken seriously, they are populist, said Tatyana Tarasova, Honored Trainer of the USSR.
Earlier, the President of the IOC addressed the leaders of the G20 in Bali with a speech, noting the need for participation in the Games of all countries, especially those in conflict.
— What Bach does is called populism. Who believes him at all? I don’t want to comment on his statements in any way, because they are empty, Tarasova told Sport24.
In February, the IOC Executive Board recommended that international federations prevent Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions due to the events in Ukraine. Many federations followed these recommendations.
