IOC President Bach hopes CAS will make a decision on Valieva soon

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is in constant contact with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regarding the case of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, IOC President Thomas Bach said.

Earlier, WADA filed a complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) demanding to disqualify the Russian woman for four years, as well as to cancel all the results of the athlete from December 25 last year.

– As for the Valieva case, we are constantly consulting with WADA. They contacted CAS. We really hope that in the near future CAS will make a decision, and we will give the medals to the athletes who deserve them. Now everything is in the hands of CAS,” Bach said at a press conference.

After winning the team competition at the IO-2022 in Beijing, it became known that Valieva’s doping test, which was taken at the Russian Championships in December 2021, contained the banned drug trimetazidine.
