The women’s 30 km cross-country skiing race at the 2022 Olympics has been brought forward by three and a half hours due to weather conditions, the organizers announced, faced with strong gusts of wind and low temperatures at the Zhangjiakou site.
The event, which was to be the last of the 2022 Olympics, before the closing ceremony in the evening in Beijing, will start at 11:00 a.m. local time (03:00 GMT) when it was originally scheduled for 2:30 p.m. local time.
“Due to the strong winds announced by the weather forecast, the start of the 30 km mass start has been brought forward to 11:00 a.m.,” the organizers said in a press release.
On Saturday, for the same reasons, they had to reduce the men’s 50 km by twenty kilometers to make it a 30 km won by the Russian Alexander Bolshunov.
