Biathlete Alexander Povarnitsyn won the super pursuit at the Russian Championships, which takes place in Izhevsk.

Povarnitsyn started from 11th place, made one miss at the lines and showed the result of 18 minutes 27.7 seconds. Belarusian Anton Smolsky was second, Karim Khalili rounded out the top three. According to the regulations of the competition, Khalili won the silver of the national championship, Roman Eremin, who finished fourth, won the bronze.

Among women in this discipline, Tamara Derbusheva won gold. The second place was taken by Irina Kazakevich, the third – by Natalia Gerbulova and Ekaterina Noskova, who covered the distance in the same time.

The Swedish women’s biathlon team won gold in the 4×6 km relay at the second stage of the World Cup in Hochfilzen (Austria).

The Swedish team, consisting of Ella Halvarsson, Anna Magnusson, Elvira and Hanna Oeberg, recorded a time of 1 hour 6 minutes 52.4 seconds, using seven extra rounds and avoiding penalty loops.

The second place was taken by the Norwegian team (Marte Johansen, Ingrid Tandrevold, Caroline Knotten, Maren Kirkade; +40.3 seconds, 9 additional rounds and 0 penalty loops). The German team closed the top three (Anna Weidel, Julia Tannheimer, Janina Hettich, Vanessa Voigt; +51.3 seconds; 8+0).

Olympic bronze medalist Eduard Latypov won the sprint race at the second stage of the Alfa-Bank Russian Biathlon Cup in Tyumen.
