MONTREAL – The Canadian Olympic Foundation and the Paralympic Foundation of Canada have received a major donation of $1.2 million from Canadian entrepreneur Sanjay Malayiya

Malyiya, who works in the field of health care technology, decided to make the donation in order to support the medalists of Team Canada from the Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 Games.

This is the first time that a donation of this magnitude has been made in direct support of Olympic and Paralympic medalists through either foundation. In addition, $100,000 will be donated to the Next Generation (NextGen) program to help support future Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

A total of 130 Olympians and 53 Paralympians will receive scholarships through this donation.
