The former president of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU), Alexander Tikhonov, told Match TV that he did not even think about returning to this post.

Earlier, Vice-President of the RBU Alexei Nuzhdov said that the reporting and election conference of the organization would be held on June 23. Tikhonov headed the SBR from 1996 to 2008.

“I have always been considered a normal person, and I remain one,” Tikhonov answered “Match TV” when asked if he had a desire to put forward his candidacy. “There is no one to work with. I won’t go at all, I didn’t have such thoughts. I live in Belarus, I consult. Everything’s fine with me. I won’t go with any team either. Why do I need it? Why should I go back to scandals?

I asked a question from all the stands when boycotts began to be announced to me. Then they persuaded Kruglov, Chudov, Cherezov and several girls to boycott my candidacy. I said there was no need for scandals. I’m leaving, I’ve worked, I’ve done my job. From the podium he asked what did not suit? We were the best federation in the world. We received a diploma from the IBU. I received a diploma as the best president among all national federations. “What do you not like? Do you want to break up? I see,” I said. When I handed over the powers, I told Kushchenko, Pak and others: “Remember my words: you will not have medals for a long time.” Well, there was not a single gold medal at the World Championships in Khanty. For 13 years before the victory of Sasha Loginov, who did not prepare with the national team, we had nothing,” he added.

Nuzhdov previously announced that he would put forward his candidacy. Also, the current head of the organization, Viktor Maigurov, spoke about his intention to be re-elected. Vladimir Drachev, who headed the union before Maygurov’s arrival, said he was ready to consider the nomination.
