Skier Stepanova apologized to Valieva for her words about doping at the Olympics

Skier Veronika Stepanova apologized to figure skater Kamila Valieva for harsh words about a doping case at the Olympics.

At the last Olympics in Beijing, Valieva took fourth place in individual competitions and won gold in the team tournament. During the tournament, it became known that her December doping test gave a positive response to the banned substance trimetazidine. Stepanova, on the air of Match TV, criticized the figure skater.

– I apologized to Kamila Valieva. Live on Match TV, I couldn’t find the right words about the events at the Olympics, everything sounded completely unjustifiably harsh.

Was not right! If you want to know, this is about the only thing I said publicly that I regret. And this is a lesson for the future – to formulate thoughts more harmoniously.

Will we become Camila’s friends? It is very interesting, a few hours in the Kremlin made us friends, but the training schedule is unlikely to allow us to meet often. In any case, she is cool and an athlete of the highest level is immediately visible in her! — wrote Stepanova.

Stepanova is the Beijing Olympic champion in the relay. Both athletes took part in the ceremony honoring the champions in the Kremlin on Tuesday.

Guberniev: “The pests from the IBU refused the expedited procedure for considering our claim in CAS”

Presenter and commentator Dmitry Guberniev on Match TV reported that the International Biathlon Union (IBU) refused the accelerated procedure for considering the claim of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) to CAS regarding admission to international tournaments.

On December 11, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that the organization’s executive committee recommended that international federations not limit the access of athletes from Russia and Belarus to youth competitions in both individual and team disciplines. In addition, Russian and Belarusian athletes are allowed to compete at tournaments under national symbols, with the flag and anthem.

    — Sergey Averyanov (head of the press service of the SBR) reports that the pests from the IBU refused the expedited procedure for considering our claim in CAS. We sent a separate request to the IBU regarding juniors and juniors. Will the federation listen to the International Olympic Committee, which recommended the return of young Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions? In other words, will the IBU be against our children? “This will be interesting,” Guberniev said on Match TV.
