Eight-time Olympic champion in biathlon Ole Einar Bjoerndalen said that his coaching work in the Chinese team can be considered completed.
The agreement of the 48-year-old Norwegian with the Chinese Biathlon Federation expired in March 2022. Bjoerndalen said he sent a progress report to the federation in mid-March, but has yet to receive a response.
– I think that the work in the Chinese team is over. I sent them a report for last season but got no response. It’s a little surprising. They seem to have more important things to do. From my point of view, I have completed my work.
After the Olympics, we did not communicate with the management, but we are still far from our goals. It would be better if the federations agreed that the national team should spend most of the next season in Europe, then it would be interesting to continue to train them
I will try to travel less in the near future. There were too many trips. Daria (Domracheva) and I will probably slow down, we need more time for the family. I never thought that the coaching profession is so interesting. Everyone says that it’s completely different from being a ward, and it’s true, ”TV2 quoted Bjordalen as saying.
