Director General of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Vladimir Sengleyev spoke about the possible participation of Russian athletes at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced in early December that it would allow Russian and Belarusian athletes who successfully qualified to the 2024 Summer Olympics in individual neutral status. Russian athletes can compete in Paris only in an individual neutral status, without a flag, anthem or other national symbols. The IOC banned the participation of athletes associated with security forces or who expressed support for the CBO.

– In the ROC building, one can only wish for one thing – to comment on the Olympic Games, so that we can participate in it. We are doing everything to achieve this. We understand that there are great difficulties, what is happening in the Olympic movement, and we are actively resisting this. All our actions are aimed at this.

We decided for ourselves that in 2028 we will reach the Olympic Games, that the situation will change. We have hope that in 2026 we will go to the Youth Olympic Games in Senegal. We are actively involved in the Olympic reserve, supporting championships and regional teams, understanding that there are things that need to be preserved and increased,” said Sengleyev, speaking at the “Voice of Sports” sports commentators awards ceremony in Moscow.

The Olympic Games in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
