FIS is obliged to allow Russians to participate in the Olympic disciplines in a neutral status, and in the Paralympic disciplines – under the flag of the Russian Federation
The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), by decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), is obliged to allow Russian athletes to compete in Olympic disciplines in a neutral status, and athletes in Paralympic disciplines under the national flag and with all national attributes, said the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Mikhail Degtyarev.
Earlier it became known that Russia won the CAS claim against FIS.
— Now FIS is obliged to admit Russian athletes to international competitions. The lawsuit was filed by the Ski Sports Association and the Russian Paralympic Committee, accompanied by lawyers from the ROC and the Russian Ministry of Sports.
The arbitrators recognized the demands of the Russian side as justified and legitimate and, in accordance with the decision of the International Olympic Committee, obliged the FIS to allow Russian athletes to compete in Olympic disciplines in a neutral status, and athletes in Paralympic disciplines on the same conditions as athletes from other countries, that is, under the national flag and with all the required national attributes.
This court decision opens up the opportunity for our athletes to participate in all international competitions, including qualification for the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” Degtyarev wrote in his Telegram channel.

“We jumped to conclusions.” The SBR named the real reasons for postponing the men’s individual race at the Russian Cup stage in Tyumen
Executive Director of the Russian Biathlon Union (SBR) Alexander Pak said on Match TV that the men’s individual race at the second stage of the Alfa-Bank Russian Biathlon Cup in Tyumen was not postponed due to a power failure.
The race will take place on December 12, starting at 10:00 Moscow time. The competition was originally scheduled for Thursday, December 11th. Earlier, the press service of the SBR reported that the race was postponed due to an accident in the electrical network supplying the lighting of the Pearl of Siberia complex.
— Before all competitions we conduct TV tests. And we determined that the lighting on the track, unfortunately, is not enough for a high-quality TV broadcast. Therefore, we decided to postpone the start date. So that athletes can run in comfortable conditions, so that TV viewers can see a high-quality picture.
– Are we talking about an accident? Technical solution?
– Yes, at first we rushed to the conclusion. There is no accident,” Pak said on Match TV.
