Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, commenting on Match TV on the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Indonesia and the absence of a statement on Russia, said that this is, of course, double standards.

On Wednesday, the IOC executive committee recommended that sports federations not hold any international competitions in Indonesia due to the situation with Israeli gymnasts. The IOC has also ceased any form of dialogue with the Indonesian NOC regarding the hosting of future Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Games, Olympic events or conferences until the Indonesian government provides sufficient assurance to the IOC that it will ensure entry into the country for all participants, regardless of nationality.

— Taking into account dozens of stories when Western countries refused to issue visas to Russians, and the IOC remained silent in such cases, doesn’t such a statement and behavior seem hypocritical and an infringement of the rights of Russian citizens?

“This is, of course, double standards,” Peskov told Match TV.

Earlier, the Indonesian government announced that the Israeli artistic gymnastics team would not be issued entry visas to the country to participate in the World Championships in Jakarta.
