Korostelev has not yet received confirmation of the assignment of neutral status, Vyalbe said
President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation Elena Vyalbe said that Savely Korostelev has not yet received confirmation from the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) that he has been assigned neutral status.
On Tuesday, senior coach of the Russian national team Yegor Sorin told Match TV that Korostelev arrived in Europe, where he will await a decision on possible admission to the World Cup in Davos. Vyalbe noted on Match TV that with a high degree of probability only one man and one woman can qualify from Russia in cross-country skiing for the 2026 Olympics.
— There has been no confirmation of the assignment of neutral status yet. Savely made the decision at his own peril and risk. He has a Schengen visa, he is ready to perform, so he considered it right to go to Switzerland and wait there for the verdict of the international federation,” RT quotes Vyalbe.
The third stage of the World Cup will be held in Davos from December 12 to 14. This is the final start where Russians can qualify for the Olympics.
The Winter Olympic Games will be held from February 6 to 22, 2026 in Italy.
