Skier Nepryaeva will fly to Davos on Thursday morning to participate in the World Cup, where she could qualify for the Olympics
The mother of skier Daria Nepryaeva, who received neutral status to participate in international competitions, Irina told Match TV that her daughter will fly to Davos on Thursday morning to participate in the World Cup.
Skiers Nepryaeva and Savely Korostelev received neutral status from the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) to participate in the qualifying competitions for the 2026 Olympic Games.
— Right now I’m packing her things urgently. The emotions are twofold: on the one hand, it seems, pride, on the other hand – you know, an invitation like to a birthday party. Not on a sporting basis, but whoever they want is invited. This is also wrong, from my point of view.
— When will you fly to Davos?
“I’m meeting with her in Moscow this evening, and she’s flying out tomorrow morning.”
— Have you already talked to Dasha? How did you react, did you already realize it?
— I spoke with Dasha on the phone, she is now in Perm at the moment. You know that Elena Valerievna (Vyalbe) and Yegor Sorin already said that all the guys submitted documents and applications, and were waiting to see whether they would be invited to this holiday or not. Everyone had some kind of expectation, not just to pass, as before, some kind of selection for the Olympics. We have poor athletes now. I feel sorry for the guys who are more worthy here: if they serve somewhere, then they are no longer worthy of going to the Olympic Games. This is wrong,” Irina Nepryaeva told Match TV.
The World Cup stage in Davos will take place from December 12 to 14. This is the final start where Russians can qualify for the Olympics, which will be held from February 6 to 22, 2026 in Italy.
