Johannes Boe and Bjoerndalen on Bakken’s death: “It’s just a shock, it’s not fair”
Olympic biathlon champions Johannes Boe and Ole Einar Bjoerndalen are shocked by the news of the death of Siewert Bakken, VG reports.
On Tuesday, the Norwegian Biathlon Association said Bakken was found dead in a hotel room in Italy. The cause of death of the 27-year-old biathlete is unknown.
“It’s hard for me to put it into words.” “I feel incredibly sad and find it very unfair that such a fantastic guy as Siewert is no longer with us,” Boe said.
– It’s hard to describe. Just a shock. He was the most persistent man in the world. He trained and, step by step, rose to the top of the world. And then this happens… This is the most tragic news imaginable,” Bjoerndalen said.
Bakken was a two-time Youth Olympic Games winner, three-time European champion and multiple World Cup medalist.
