The RBU hopes that the CAS decision on the admission of biathletes will be published immediately after the New Year

President of the Russian Biathlon Union (RUB) Viktor Maigurov, in an interview with Match TV, expressed the hope that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will decide on the admission of Russian biathletes to international competitions in early 2026.

Russian biathletes have been suspended from international competitions since 2022 due to the conflict in Ukraine. On December 10, the SBR filed a lawsuit with CAS to challenge the exclusion of athletes from Russia from competing under the auspices of the International Biathlon Union (IBU). The IBU refused to expedite the claim.

— There are no specific dates yet. The regulations do not know exactly how many days. It is clear that the accelerated procedure is one story, the standard one is another. In any case, this issue is being worked on, we hope for a solution immediately after the New Year. It’s Christmas now, it’s ending, everyone will go back to work on January 2nd. The main thing is that the decision should be in our favor, because we see how the IBU is resting its hands and feet for no apparent reason,” Maigurov told a Match TV correspondent.
