Biathlete Andrei Vyukhin won the sprint qualification at the fifth stage of the PhosAgro Russian Cup in cross-country skiing in Kirovo-Chepetsk.
Vyukhin won the prologue with a result of 2 minutes 58.9 seconds. Denis Filimonov came second (1.03 seconds behind), and Alexey Rasputin (+1.16) closed the top three.
Two-time Olympic bronze medalist Alexander Terentyev (+5.7) took 31st place and failed to qualify for the quarterfinals. Three-time Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov misses the competition due to illness.
