CAS will most likely consider an appeal against the IBU decision to exclude Russians in early February – Maigurov

President of the Russian Biathlon Union (SBR) Viktor Maigurov said on Match TV that the consideration of the Russian side’s appeal against the decision of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) to exclude Russian athletes from international competitions will most likely take place in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in early February.

Russian biathletes have been suspended from international competitions since 2022 due to the conflict in Ukraine. In December, the RBU announced that a lawsuit had been filed with CAS to challenge the exclusion of athletes from Russia from competing under the auspices of the IBU. The International Biathlon Union refused to expedite the claim.

— I talked to CAS about the claim for two days. The IBU is delaying (the consideration of the claim) by hook or by crook. There are no clear regulations in CAS, but, as our lawyers said, this is the beginning of February,” Maigurov said on Match TV.

ROC and Bosco signed an agreement on the supply of equipment for Russian national teams

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) and Bosco Manufactory LLC signed an agreement to return the Bosco brand as the official supplier of equipment for the Russian Olympic and national teams.

The signing ceremony of the agreement took place on Friday in the Kaluga region.

— The Olympians themselves asked to return Bosco as an outfitter for the Russian national teams — this is the decision of the ROC athletes’ commission. At the “Russia is a Sports Power” forum in Samara, we presented part of the updated collection to Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. Vladimir Vladimirovich liked it and supported it. The decision has been made: Russian national teams in all sports will have a single outfitter: from juniors to Olympic champions.

Today, together with the Olympians, we visited the Bosco manufactory and assessed how the new collection called “Golden Heritage” is being sewn, because Russia always goes to competitions for gold. The design recognizes the motifs of the historical Olympic uniforms – in Vancouver, Sochi, and Moscow. Now the task is to have time to equip our Paralympic team for the Games in Milan. In October we are preparing for the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar. We will show this beauty to the world at all international competitions. I’m sure the uniform will find a response in the hearts of the fans, will be recognizable and, of course, will bring us victories,” said Degtyarev, whose words were provided to Match TV by the ROC press service.

The “Golden Heritage” collection includes a full set of equipment for men and women: down jackets, jackets, windbreakers, vests, formal and training suits, thermal underwear, T-shirts, polos, insulated trousers and shorts. Also additionally presented are shoes and accessories – sneakers, hats, baseball caps, bags, backpacks and towels.

The Bosco company was the official outfitter of the Russian national team from 2002 to 2016.

Degtyarev said that a maximum of 13 Russian athletes will compete at the 2026 Olympics

The Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee Mikhail Degtyarev said that the maximum number of Russian participants in the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy will be 13 people.

Previously, invitations from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to the Olympics were accepted by Russian skiers Savely Korostelev and Daria Nepryaeva, speed skaters Ksenia Korzhova and Anastasia Semenova, figure skaters Pyotr Gumennik and Adelia Petrosyan, ski mountaineer Nikita Filippov, as well as short track speed skaters Ivan Posashkov and Alena Krylova.

— A maximum of 13 people will compete at the Olympics. We’ll watch, we’ll definitely be rooting for it. The discussion about neutral status is difficult. As a citizen and a person who sat in the State Duma for 13 years, I understand this. But preventing athletes from performing is wrong. They compete for Russia, bring medals for Russia. And at the same time, we are recovering (at international competitions) with varying degrees of success,” Degtyarev said at the “Knowledge. State”.

The 2026 Olympics will take place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo from February 6 to 22. The Russians will participate in the competition in a neutral status.
