Vyalbe: “The skiers who were denied neutral status were told to sue. I will contact the ROC for support”
President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe said on Match TV that Russian athletes who were denied neutral status by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) due to an alleged violation of anti-doping rules should contact the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
On Saturday, skier Sergei Volkov said on Match TV that he had appealed to CAS the FIS decision to deny him neutral status. In addition, Alina Pekletsova and Ivan Gorbunov reported that they were also denied neutral status.
— The thought creeps into my mind that there is some kind of “agreement” between the international federations and the International Olympic Committee in order to allow everyone to the Olympics according to the “1+1” scheme. We received an official answer that the tests done by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) will be enough for them, because RUSADA does not open samples within the country, but transports them outside its borders. And now the guys are getting rejected…
I told those who received a refusal that anti-doping rules were allegedly violated to file a lawsuit. I will contact the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) for support. People also need to be taught a lesson,” Vyalbe said on the air of the “Ski Country” program on Match TV.

Former figure skater Fedor Klimov spoke about how he coped with missing the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.
Klimov, performing in tandem with Ksenia Stolbova, won a gold medal at the 2014 Olympic Games and also became a three-time Russian champion. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) did not allow the couple to participate in the 2018 Olympic Games.
— In general, I didn’t follow what was happening at the Games. And even then I didn’t rewatch the performances. I knew from hearsay what was happening and how, but nothing more. For me, this start didn’t exist; I couldn’t bring myself to be interested in it. I won’t say that I felt any strong upset, but rather total devastation. There were no emotions at all,” Klimov told RT.
Some time after missing the 2018 Olympics, the athlete retired. After that he started working as a coach.

Silver medalist of the Olympic Games in biathlon, Belarusian Anton Smolsky, won the pursuit race as part of the fourth stage of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Biathlon Cup, which takes place in Raubichi.

The 2026 Olympics will take place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo from February 6 to 22. Russian athletes will compete in a neutral status.

As for the closing ceremony, a decision on this issue has not yet been made, the IOC press service told Match TV.
