Russian Paralympians won eight medals at the World Cup in cross-country skiing in Germany
Russian Paralympians won three gold, three silver and two bronze medals at the World Cup in cross-country skiing, which took place in Finsterau (Germany).
Gold was taken by Anastasia Bagiyan (competition of athletes with visual impairments, the leader athlete is Sergey Sinyakin), who won the 10 km freestyle mass start, as well as the Russian teams in the 4×2.5 km open relay (Oleg Ponomarev (with the leader athlete Andrei Romanov), Vitaly Malyshev, Alexander Pronkov, Vladislav Lekomtsev) and mixed 4×2.5 km relay race (Ivan Golubkov, Evgeniy Cherny, Bagiyan, Stanislav Chokhlaev (with leading athlete Oleg Kolodiychuk).
The winners of silver medals were Golubkov (category – “sitting”) in the individual 10 km freestyle race, Malyshev (category – “standing”) in the sprint classic style and Ponomarev (athletes with visual impairments) in the sprint classic style.
Bronze went to Lekomtsev (category – “standing”) in the 10 km freestyle mass start and Golubkova in the 10 km freestyle mass start.
The Russians performed in Finsterau with national symbols.
Participation in these competitions allows athletes to accumulate ranking points, which are a mandatory criterion for receiving two-way invitations to the 2026 Paralympic Games in Italy.
The Paralympics will take place from 6 to 15 March 2026 in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Smolsky won the pursuit race at the Commonwealth Biathlon Cup stage in Belarus
Silver medalist of the Olympic Games in biathlon, Belarusian Anton Smolsky, won the pursuit race as part of the fourth stage of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Biathlon Cup, which takes place in Raubichi.
Smolsky covered the 12.5 km distance in 37 minutes 21.2 seconds, making two misses in four shooting ranges.
Second place was taken by Saveliy Konovalov (lag – 8.2 seconds; 2 misses), the top three was closed by Karim Khalili (+24.9; 0 misses).
On Sunday, a mixed relay will take place in Raubichi, starting at 13:45 Moscow time.

The press service of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) told Match TV that Russian athletes will not take part in the parade of athletes at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games; the issue of participation in the closing ceremony has not yet been resolved.
The 2026 Olympics will take place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo from February 6 to 22. Russian athletes will compete in a neutral status.
– Individual neutral athletes will not take part in the athletes’ parade, but will be given the opportunity to attend the event both in Milan and in the mountain clusters.
As for the closing ceremony, a decision on this issue has not yet been made, the IOC press service told Match TV.
